Inexorable Tutoring

Maths tutoring you can rely on.

About me...

I am flexible as a tutor. If you or your son/daughter would like me to conduct the lessons in a particular way, I will try my best to accommodate them. For example, some students might want to spend the lesson tackling exam style questions. Others might like the concepts to be explained to them from the very beginning. Most people like a healthy combination of both. I like to give the choice to the student at the beginning of each new lesson, because everyone learns differently!

One thing I will typically emphasise, perhaps more than other tutors, is the 'reason' behind why a student is even learning a given topic! I will naturally blend into my explanations snippets of links to other topics, histrorical context, or foreshadowing into what that topic can look like at a level one step beyond. I tend to adjust how much of this I do depending on how helpful I think the student is finding it. But, in my opinion, the best way to learn about something is to care about it. And I will try my hardest to help you or your son/daughter to do that.

What are my lessons like?

I'm Elliot! I've been tutoring maths since 2020, and completed almost 2,000 lessons since then. I've also been a mathematics student at the University of Bristol (a Russel Group, top 10 UK university) since 2022, where I am specialised in probability and statistics. Students often describe me with words like passionate, caring, patient, and clear. Maths isn't just something I tutor because I'm good at it - I consider it to be a large part of my personality. In my free time I make maths YouTube videos, and even maths music! When tutoring, I like to project this passion to try to make the lessons as interesting and memorable as possible.

I hold an up-to-date enhanced DBS check and have been personally interviewed and quality assessed by one of the largest tutoring agencies in the UK (MyTutor), who I've worked with for 3 years. I have a grade 9 in GCSE Maths, an A* in A-Level Maths, and an A in A-Level Further Maths. I am currently doing an Masters of Science in Mathematics at the University of Bristol. I tutor GCSE maths, GCSE Further Maths, A-Level Maths, A-Level Further Maths, International Baccalaureate (all four maths courses), AP Statistics, Calculus I, II, and III, maths at undergraduate level selectively, and much more!

"By far the best tutor I've ever had. Genuinely cares about the math he is teaching his students and provides explanations to concepts that are not necessarily contained by the lesson plan from the professor. Has a genuine interest in math and helped me to overcome my struggles in Calculus after not having taken it in High School before University in the UK. Helped me to achieve one of the highest scores on the midterm after just two lessons every week. Highly recommend to anyone who is struggling in any maths subject."
